The nation%u2019s industrial sector remains definitively in recovery mode, with production rising 1.2% in May -- its 10th increase in the last 11 months. Among the highlights of the across-the-board monthly gains: Vehicle manufacturing rose 10% and utilities output jumped 4.8.
New York lawmakers are considering legislation to boost the state's solar power generation to 2.5% of overall electricity sales by 2025. This is part of a nationwide renewable energy trend driven by the new jobs and other economic benefits the switch will likely bring.
Energy company PPL Corp. has agreed to buy the American gas and electricity unit of German utility company E.ON AG for $6.7 billion.
