Record Wholesale Turkey Prices May Just Be the Beginning

Although retail prices for turkey have held steady, wholesale prices are hovering at around $1.09 per pound, a record high. Several factors are in play, but perhaps the biggest one comes from Washington, in the form of Federal Reserve monetary policy.

The Agriculture Department had predicted that U.S. cranberry production would rise 6% this year for the second-largest harvest on record. But the 2010 crop came in 5% below 2009. Still, things are going well for Ocean Spray, the largest U.S. co-op of cranberry growers.
Thanksgiving Alert: Smoked Turkey Recalled over Listeria Risk

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, New Braunfels Smokehouse of Texas has recalled about 2,609 pounds of ready-to-eat smoked turkey breast products that may be contaminated with Listeria, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
