Most 20-Somethings Are Pessimistic About Their Financial Futures
4:30PM 9/07/2011

These days, 20-somethings aren't just the young and the restless -- they're the young and the anxious. According to The PNC Financial Services Group's Financial Independence Survey, that demographic is full of financial fears.

Employee concerns about layoffs have moved sharply higher according to a new survey by online jobs company Glassdoor. The percentage of those who are worried rose sharply to 22% in the second quarter - the highest since the third quarter of 2009.

Optimism about the economy appears to have waned, according to a poll of top U.S. CEOs. Only one-third believe that their industry will improve in the next six months, down from two-thirds in the spring. Are these executives canaries in the coal mine?

The government today is often blamed for causing economic uncertainty, which some point to as the source of all the economy's woes. But there's a deeper issue in play than the fact that we have to guess what's coming next: The problem is the bias in our guesses.
No Jobs Yet: CFOs Say Hiring May Not Revive Until 2011 or 2012
5:30PM 7/13/2010
