BP contacted the man behind the Twitter sensation known as @BPGlobalPR and asked him to be a little more fake. But the company should be careful about what it asks for.
The Twitter account known as @BPGlobalPR has more than 135,000 followers and has raised thousands of dollars for cleanup efforts in the Gulf of Mexico. But more importantly for founder "Leroy Stick," it's a place for people to creatively express their anger.
A Web satirist who's been lampooning BP on Twitter donated $10,000 to a group devoted to protecting the Gulf of Mexico. "BPGlobalPR" gave the proceeds of sales of T-Shirts with the tagline "BP Cares" -- in dripping black ink.
