Jobless Claims Dip but Still Higher Than Expected

Initial jobless claims dipped 3,000 to 456,000, but the total was higher than expected and is well above what's considered consistent with a self-sustaining economic expansion. Continuing claims fell 255,000 to 4.462 million -- their lowest total in 18 months.

Lost Jobs: Low-Wage Workers Got Hit Hardest
