    Japanese automaker Honda warned U.S. dealers that it will run short of popular models such as the Civic compact later this summer because of parts shortages caused by Japan's earthquake. The company said it would significantly cut production of the new 2012 Civic, the sixth most popular car in the U.S.

    Honda Motor Co. (HMC) is recalling 1.35 million Fit subcompact cars to repair defective wiring in the headlights.     In Asia Friday Japan's Nikkei 225 Index rose 0.5% to 9,427 and Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index slid 0.6% to 23,518. In China the Shanghai Composite Index edged down 0.3% to end the day at 2,975.

    Honda Motor Co. says it will expand an existing recall. Last month Honda recalled 646,000 Fit hatchbacks worldwide because of a glitch that could cause water to enter the power window mechanism, causing components to overheat.
