In its latest attempt to get users to spend more time on its website, Yahoo has overhauled its free email service with new features that debut Wednesday. Email will be twice as fast, with easier picture and video viewing and the ability to "tweet" directly from Yahoo email to Twitter.

I have a love/hate relationship with Gmail. As a foolish youth, I entrusted the free version of Gmail in its early beta days with reams of critical communications. Now I'm permanently wedded to at least partial usage of Google (GOOG)'s much-loved, and recently reviled, online email product.

We read today that Microsoft (MSFT) is finally releasing an Outlook email client for Mac, according to TUAW and others. It's about time.
