Affymax, Takeda Recall Anemia Drug Omontys After Deaths

U.S.-based Affymax Inc and Japan's Takeda Pharmaceutical Co said they are voluntarily recalling all lots of anemia treatment Omontys (peginesatide) in the United States due to reports of serious hypersensitivity reactions, including some deaths.

Amgen, J&J Recall Procrit, Epogen for Possible Glass Issue

Drug-makers Amgen and Johnson & Johnson are voluntarily recalling two brands of an injectable anemia medication because of the possibility that vials of it may also contain tiny glass flakes. The drug, Epoetin alfa, is marketed under the brand names Epogen and Procrit.

FDA Sends J&J Warning Letter on Two Products

In a warning letter to J&J's DePuy Orthopaedics, the FDA says it is illegally marketing its TruMatch CT scanner and Corail Hip System. This is the latest in a series of problems at J&J, which include a big children's Tylenol recall.
