I blogged recently about how few nonprofits don't let you make microloans directly to recipients. That's a bummer if you, say, want to aid earthquake victims in Haiti or Chile. You want to make sure your money gets where you want it to go. I came across a new Web site called What I Did Not Buy,...

If you're one of those donors, the purchases of two homes in Massachusetts for Salvation Army officers and the comments...

That iconic red kettle, which relies on kind cash and holiday spirit, is getting a makeover in 30 cities to ring in...

You know the drill: you're walking out of the store, shopping bags in tow, when a bell-ringing Salvation Army guy in earmuffs gives you the look. Maybe you feel around in your pockets for a sec, or maybe you just skip right to the dramatic shrug; either way, chances are that you don't drop the...

While the annoying Kars4Kids radio jingle asking consumers to donate their unwanted cars for needy children seems straightforward enough, it may actually be steering donors down a road they didn't expect. All of the money raised by Joy for Our Youth (a.k.a. Kars4Kids) -- $16.2 million in 2007,...
