Among the things sure to help shape the week ahead on Wall Street, Visa will tell us whether we've been choosing plastic over paper; Disney will tell us how much magic it has in its financials; and Panera and Chipotle will serve up their quarterly results.
The all-important January employment reports come out this week. Also worth watching for are a host of earnings releases, led by economic bellwhether UPS. The package deliverer is expected to post strong results.
Blockbuster has nearly run out of money again. It wants its bondholders to put up more capital as it wrestles to exit Chapter 11. If some of the bondholders balk, Blockbuster will almost certainly be sold off in parts. But what exactly does it have left to sell?
Coinstar, which operates the 26,900 Redbox movie rental kiosks, posted earnings that nearly doubled, although its outlook disappointed Wall Street. The company announced it would begin to sell Blu-ray disks in 13,300 locations immediately.
