United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Congratulates Comcast On Their Nbcuniversal Acquistion
WASHINGTON, March 1, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) proudly congratulates Comcast for their recent NBCUniversal acquisition.
Comcast has purchased General Electric's (GE) 49 percent share of NBCUniversal for $16.7 billion, two years earlier than anticipated. NBCUniversal has seen substantial growth recently, with an increase of 13 percent ($23.8 billion) in total revenue, last year alone.
"The US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce applauds Comcast's recent NBCUniversal transaction. Comcast is a trusted USHCC partner, with a remarkable business track record, solid minority contracting practices and an award-winning Diversity Council," said USHCC President & CEO Javier Palomarez. "The Hispanic business community benefits from responsible corporate leaders like Comcast, who not only engage in intuitive business transactions that increase their firm's value, but invest substantial efforts toward developing a multicultural workforce in their organization and beyond."
The acquisition, which should be completed by the end of March, highlights Comcast's commitment to NBCUniversal's highly profitable cable channels, theme parks and the NBC broadcast network.
Comcast's diversity council was the 2012 recipient of the Association of Diversity Councils Award, which recognizes outstanding contributions and achievements of these councils that lead organizations' diversity processes and demonstrate results in their workforce, workplace and marketplace. They ranked fifth among the "Top 25 U.S Diversity Councils" nationwide.
"The USHCC is confident that Comcast will continue to lead the way in minority contracting – and as a result of this recent acquisition – expand the access to such opportunities for Hispanic Business Enterprises and other minority-owned firms," concluded President & CEO Palomarez.
