Semtech’s SX9300 With Unique Smart Sensing Feature for SAR Named One of the 2012 Hot 100 Products by UBM Tech’s EDN Magazine
by Business Wire
Semtech Corporation (Nasdaq: SMTC), a leading supplier of analog and mixed-signal semiconductors, today announced that EDN Magazine has named Semtech’s SX9300, an ultra-low power proximity sensor, as one of the “100 Hot Products of 2012.”
The 2012 EDN Hot 100 highlights the electronics industry’s most significant products of the year based on innovation, significance, usefulness and popularity. Semtech’s SX9300 will be listed in the December 14, 2012 issue of EDN Magazine.
Semtech’s SX9300 is the first smart proximity sensing solution on the market that comes with built-in intelligence for true discrimination between a human body and inert material. This unique feature enables mobile and tablet manufacturers to comply with Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) regulations for optimized data and voice communication to enhance the end user experience.
This high resolution sensing device also incorporates a dual-channel configuration which utilizes extremely small sensor areas for multiple axis proximity detection.
The SX9300 is intended for handheld wireless devices requiring SAR regulation compliance such as mobile and tablet with built-in 3G/4G LTE connectivity and Wi-Fi/mobile hotspot.
“Being on the EDN Hot 100 products is a great honor and we are excited to be recognized by the industry’s editors and readers,” said David Wong, Director for Semtech’s Consumer Sensing Product Line. “The innovative features in the SX9300 provide mobile/tablet system designers a robust and cost effective sensing solution to comply with SAR regulations”.
“It's always a fun and enlightening challenge for the EDN editors to select the year's Hot 100 products, which has been an annual tradition at EDN since 1993. This year's selection not only reflects some technology trends that have been in place for a while, but also highlights some new trends that are just emerging, as well as a unique product or two that is in a class of its own,” said Rich Pell, Executive and Chief Technical Editor, EDN.
