Hurco's New Products and New Image a Hit at IMTS

INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 18, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Hurco (Nasdaq:HURC) sold a record number of machines at the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) in Chicago last week and the response to the new machine design and new products exceeded expectations, according to Hurco Executive Vice President Greg Volovic. Hurco used the IMTS platform to introduce the company's first global rebranding initiative in its 44-year history.

"The largest manufacturing technology show was the perfect venue to show customers our new machine design and our new machine lines, such as the HSi High Speed Series. IMTS was the official launch of the new brand identity that will be used by all divisions worldwide by the end of the year. While the external look is new for Hurco, the iron is as rigid and reliable as ever and our integrated control continues to provide customers with technology that makes their shops more productive and more profitable. As attendees packed the booth to see the sleek new design of the Hurco machines in gun metal gray, accented with the new Hurco logo, the energy and excitement was infectious," said Hurco Marketing Director Phil Fassnacht.

Because the flexibility of the Hurco control is unparalleled due to the fact that it processes NC programs efficiently and also includes the best Conversational Programming method available, the IMTS booth was designed with a path for NC and a path for Conversational, explained Fassnacht. Each machine demonstration highlighted the specific benefits of the Hurco control for each programming method.

"Speed, whether a shop uses NC or Conversational Programming, was an important component of the show as all the Hurco machine tools were equipped with our patented UltiMotion™ technology," said Volovic. "For years, our control has accelerated the process of getting from print to part by reducing the time it takes to program and set up a part, and now with UltiMotion™, customers get the benefit of faster cycle times because the software algorithms can determine the optimal tool path. At least 100 customers throughout North America are using UltiMotion™ for 3-axis and 5-axis machining and they are achieving phenomenal results with cycle time reductions of up to 35% and sometimes even more. Additionally, the smoother motion significantly improves surface finish quality, which is especially important to mold makers," explained Volovic.

Michael Doar, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President, stated, "I am excited with the enthusiasm and interest that was apparent at our IMTS booth. I am confident we will build on this momentum as the other divisions introduce the new brand throughout the world in the coming months."
