We're coming up on two of the most important holidays of the year: National Doughnut Day (today -- June 7) and Father's Day (June 16). Needless to say, there are already deals in anticipation of both events. Here are a few of the best.
First, let's talk doughnuts. Krispy Kreme will be offering a free doughnut of your choice all day on Friday, with no purchase necessary. Dunkin' Donuts (DNKN) will also be offering a free doughnut of your choice on Friday, but you have to buy a beverage to get it. With that said, Dunkin' is also debuting its Glazed Donut Breakfast Sandwich on Friday, so it might still be the preferred destination on Friday.
Now let's talk dads. Amazon (AMZN) wants you to skip the tie this Father's Day and go big: It's discounting its line of Kindle Fire HDs through Saturday, June 8. The baseline model -- the 16GB tablet with special offers -- will cost $179 instead of the usual $199. Other models are similarly discounted by $20. Note that you'll need to enter the code DADSFIRE to get the deal.
While Sharper Image stores can no longer be found at the mall -- the retailer went bankrupt a few years ago -- the brand still lives online. And it sells a lot of the gizmos that you might find in a Father's Day gift guide, like automated tie racks and those putting mats that shoot the ball back at you. LivingSocial is currently offering $50 credit for the Sharper Image site for $25, and you can spend the credit on anything but gift cards. The deal is good for the next five days.
Can't decide between cologne and grilling accessories for Father's Day? Well as they say in that one taco shell commercial: Why not both? Fortunately, BeFrugal.com gave us a heads-up that Macy's (M) is offering the perfect compromise: When you make a cologne purchase over $65, the retailer will throw in a free grill set that includes tongs, a grill brush and a spatula, all in an aluminum case. You also get free shipping.
