Money Minute: Richest U.S. States; Russian Mob Behind Data Breaches?

Who wants to live near a millionaire?

A new report lists the states with the highest percentage of millionaires. Counting down the top five: Alaska, Hawaii, Connecticut, New Jersey -- and No. 1: Maryland. Nearly 8 percent of the population there can claim millionaire status. But several states lost millionaires last year.

Phoenix Marketing says the number of millionaire households in Nevada fell by 16 percent. And Florida suffered the biggest drop in the number of millionaires. Overall, the U.S. had more than 6.1 million millionaires, 5.1 percent of the total population.

Do you remember the old comedy "The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming?" Well, they've been here and walked away with the personal financial and credit card information of millions of Americans.
A private security company hired by the government says hackers apparently linked to the Russian mob were behind the massive hacking attacks at Target (TGT) and Neiman Marcus. The report also says other retailers we haven't heard from yet may have been victims, too.

The U.S. Mint is considering a change in the mix of metals used to make coins weigh a bit less, and cost less to produce. The Wall Street Journal says the nickel could see the biggest change. It's size and shape would stay the same, but the weight and color could change.

Here on Wall Street, the Dow Jones industrial average (^DJI) fell 65 points Thursday, the Standard & Poor's 500 index (^GPSC) lost 2 and the Nasdaq composite (^IXIC) edged higher, up 4 points.

Investors who believe in the Super Bowl Indicator will be cheering for the San Francisco 49ers to beat the Seattle Seahawks this weekend. The indicator holds that if a team from the pre-merger NFL wins the Super Bowl, the market will gain for the year. And San Francisco is the only one of the four remaining teams that qualifies. The indicator has been right 80 percent of the time since the Super Bowl began in 1967.

-Produced by Drew Trachtenberg.

(Correction: An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated -- and the video still does -- that the 49ers would be playing the Carolina Panthers this weekend. As millions of NFL fans are aware, the Niners beat the Panthers last weekend.)

If someone would just get some common sense, the country would be better off - and quit showing off how complicated one can make things - and do away with the stupid 1 dollar bill - make a decent coin, you don't get much for it anyway. Move into the 21st Century and find a brain instead of pleasing everyone's oversized ego.

They are picking on the Russians so they can boost the H1B quota for South Asia?

more and more Russians are moving to the US, what is our government doing with this group? oh yeah, they don't want anyone from the south of the border, but the Russians are a hell of a lot more dangerous to our national security than migrant workers looking for an opportunity to make it in the US!

Psst.... Lots of Americans looking to make it here but thanks to excess immigration and visas the opportunities aren't happening very often.

Today many of the job fairs are just put together to hawk products and services to unsuspecting grads. The few companies showing up are usually looking to find sweatshop labor or they don\'t even have openings they are just practicing interview skils themselves!

Whats your beef with Massachusetts thats where my Great ancestor first came.

i think that per lizzy Warren, Mass. should raise its minimum wage to an inflation adjusted $22/hr. We in Texas will be happy to provide every illegal a free bus pass to send there.

It would be less costly just to let then go back across the Southern border no matter where they came from .

With technology changing rapidly and the average age of workers over age 35 why aren't they kicking out the visa workers who get older and ae schooled only in the older technolgy?

If companies go off shore to avoid 35 year old plus Americans then they need to dump the older visa workers or be charged with discrimination!

Funny they can count how many millions of dollars but they have to estimate the labor data. Over 91.8 million not in the labor force and 10.4 million unemployed. Wow maybe if they counted people like dollars the real unemployment rate might be accurate!
