I remember the good old days when it was regulated. The prices structure made sense---the further you flew, the more you paid---and most airlines charged pretty much the same price for the same flight. Ever since deregulation the price structure is chaotic---going from Chicago to Cleveland can cost more than going from L.A. to New York---the seats got smaller, the food got worse or disappeared altogether, and the entire industry has been plagued by strikes, bankruptcies and cut-throat competition. Deregulation of the airline industry was a bad idea whose time had come.
