A California appeals court has ruled that U.S. Bank conned Claudia Aceves out of her home by tricking her into giving up her bankruptcy protections. Now she can sue the bank for damages and fraud, and conceivably, so could other homeowners in similar situations.

Allstate is suing Bank of America and its Countrywide Financial division over Countrywide's sale of $700 million in mortgage-backed securities to the insurance giant, alleging that Countrywide knew in advance that the assets would drop in value because of a high percentage of defaults.
Legal Briefing: A Dell Deal the SEC (Probably) Can't Refuse

Dell has reportedly proposed a settlement to the Securities and Exchange Commission that the SEC staff likes and will recommend the commissioners accept. At issue is how Dell did its accounting on deals with Intel. Dell has already been forced to restate four years of manipulated earnings.
eBay Hit With $3.8 Billion Patent Lawsuit Over Payment Technology

eBay got slapped Tuesday with a $3.8 billion patent infringement lawsuit over its payment system technology. XPRT Ventures alleges inthe suit that eBay and its subsidiaries PayPal, Bill Me Later, Shopping.com and StubHub violated six of its patents.

LimeWire, a peer-to-peer file sharing network that was recently found liable to recording artists for massive copyright piracy faces an additional threat to its existence: Music publishers are suing it too, alleging the same piracy.
