Vizio Widens Lead in U.S. LCD Television Sales

Vizio widened its lead in the U.S. liquid-crystal-display television market in the fourth quarter, according to a new report from research firm iSuppli. Samsung and Sony lost market share from a year ago, although Sony gained ground from the third quarter.

Samsung Electronics shares fell 2.5% to 773,000 won each, fueling declines in other Asian technology stocks, after the company forecast its third-quarter profit will fall from the second quarter's record high.
Flat screen TV wall mount recall: Might fall apart

Sanus Vision and Simplicity flat screen television wall mounts are being recalled because the parts don't fit together and they can fall apart, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said.
The flaw with the elbow joint parts can cause a TV to fall off the wall, the CPSC said.
Corning's second-quarter profit jumped 49%, beating analysts' estimates as sales grew by 23%. But while the high-tech glass-maker expects demand to remain high for its products, it expects little change in sales in the current quarter. Shares fell about 2% in premarket trading.
