Sprint Overestimated EVO Sales
7:00AM 6/09/2010

Sprint-Nextel announced last week that sales of its new EVO 4G phone, a competitor to Apple's iPhone 4, "marked the largest quantity of a single phone sold in one day ever for Sprint." turns out those numbers were off -- way off.
Palm Battered After Lowering Sales Outlook
9:45PM 2/26/2010

Palm, the onetime handset pioneer, is in trouble. The company lowered its 2010 sales forecasts for its Pre and Pixi devices, which were supposed pull it out of a slump. Sales would be "well below" the $1.6 billion to $1.8 billion it had previously forecast, Palm said.

AT&T (T) is suing Verizon Wireless for misleading advertising. But its actions could do the company more harm than good. The reason for the lawsuit: Verizon (VZ) has been mocking Apple's (AAPL) iPhone "There's an App for That" ads. Verizon TV ads show off a coverage map depicting its larger,...
Cell phones: Latest not always the greatest

In a few short weeks Sprint and Palm will launch the new Palm Pixi, a smartphone that hopes to capitalize on the popularity of the Palm Pre which is powered by the same acclaimed WebOS software.
There's no doubt that the Palm Pixi smaller and newer than the Palm Pre, but is the newest cell phone...
Can iPhone crack the business market? New apps may give Apple a way
7:25PM 10/08/2009

Already loaded with more than 25,000 applications, the shelves at the iPhone app store are about to get a lot heavier. A nifty software-development tool that makes it much easier to build applications for the popular Apple (AAPL) smartphone is expected to lead to a lot more personal finance...
Palm races to right ship as loss widens despite Pre buzz
6:40PM 9/17/2009

Palm (PALM), the onetime smart-phone pioneer now on the rocks, is racing against the clock as it burns through cash in a last-ditch effort to turn its business around. Despite positive buzz and strong sales of its Pre device, the company reported its ninth consecutive quarterly loss Thursday as...

Jon Rubinstein, CEO of resurgent smartphone-maker Palm (PALM), didn't want to talk about the iPhone when I caught up with him after an Engadget event in New York City on Sunday. "I don't focus on the competition," he told me.
But he was more than happy to talk about the biggest lesson he learned...
Apple vs. Palm is really Steve Jobs vs. Jon Rubinstein
3:05PM 7/27/2009

Is Apple (AAPL) versus Palm (PALM) the new Microsoft (MSFT) versus Apple?
What a difference a decade makes. In the '90s, it was Bill Gates and Steve Jobs battling over operating systems, and Sun Microsystem's Scott McNealy throwing barbs at software enemy Mister Softee. Now it's Jobs going...

Looks like Palm (PALM) is roaring back to credibility. After the markets closed today, the Sunnyvale, Calif.-based smartphone maker reported a net loss of $105 million, or 78 cents per share, for its fourth quarter ending May 29.
While it was far worse than its loss of $43.4 million, or 40 cents...

This year's crop of new touch-screen phones will have another major competitor to contend with in August: T-Mobile's awkwardly-named yet sharp-looking myTouch 3G with Google.
The phone carrier known for its ads featuring spokeswoman Catherine Zeta-Jones is set to announce its second phone built...
