Henry Paulson's just-published memoir "On the Brink" recalls the financial crisis as it unfolded in the fall of 2008. Far from a gossipy tell-all, it devotes the bulk of its pages to the cautionary tale of how the world's financial system nearly collapsed -- and what he tried to do about it.

President Obama's approval rating has dropped. But here's something investors should know: The rate has declined for nearly every president from the first year to the second. A lot of the drop stems from the poor economy and the unemployment rate. A stronger economy always reverses the trend.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reached a $1.25 million settlement with RC2, the Illinois-based toy company that makes Thomas the Tank Engine. The settlement pertains to the company's 2007 recall of an estimated 1.7 million Thomas the Tank Engine toys that were deemed to contain lead levels that exceeded the legal limit.
