Hello, bankable movie stars! Steve Carell is said to have signed on for the film adaptation of Tom Perrotta's 2007 book 'The Abstinence Teacher,' starring with none other than Sandra Bullock. Bullock would play the movie's small-town, liberal sex ed teacher, while Carell would be her born-again Christian love interest.
The film is still in its early development stage, so anything's possible. The movie is helmed by "Little Miss Sunshine" producers Albert Berger, Ron Yerxa and Polly Johnsen. It was originally attached to directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris in 2006, but apparently no more.
Sandra Bullock received a Best Actress Oscar for 'The Blind Side' in 2009, and ranks as one of the most popular actresses in Hollywood, according to IMDb. Carell's "Dinner for Schmucks" opened at $23.5 million and was No. 2 at the box office this past weekend.
