Discovery Kids lamps recalled after starting seven fires

Discovery Kids lamps catch fireDiscovery Kids animated marine and safari lamps are being recalled after seven families reported them catching fire, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said.

A child was injured in one of the fires. If you have one of the lamps you are asked to stop using it and contact the importer to get a full refund. The lamps have a defective circuit board that can cause a short circuit.About 360,000 of the Chinese-made lamps were sold nationwide for about $10 between July 2009 and January 2010.

The recalled lamps are: Discovery Kids Animated Marine Lamp model number 1627121 or 1628626 and the Animated Safari Lamp model number 1627124 or 1628626. They are silver and have films that rotate.
