Sometime between Sept. 2 and Sept. 3, a burglary occurred at a home along Angelo Drive in West Los Angeles.Businessman Richard Weisman lost a collection of 10 silkscreened Andy Warhol paintings of famous athletes, including Muhammad Ali, Pele, Tom Seaver, O.J. Simpson, Dorothy Hamill, and himself. He's not an athlete, but hey, when you have a lot of money, you get to have whatever you want.
Weisman is offering a $1 million reward for information leading to the return of his prized possessions, noting in a statement that the theft "represents a profoundly personal loss to me and my family."
The Los Angeles Police Department, for its part, is circulating a poster advertising the $1 million reward, and also displaying a grid of the 11 missing paintings. It's a pretty cool piece. You can view the PDF file on the LAPD Web site.
I had it blown up to an 11"x17" document and then had it printed at Staples on high-quality photo paper and framed it. In total, it cost less than $10, and makes a pretty cool alternative to the boring posters that most college students decorate their dorm rooms with.
