DETROIT -- Officials say a Detroit-based business is recalling about 1.8 million pounds of ground beef products sold for restaurant use in four states that may be contaminated with E. coli bacteria.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced Monday that affected Wolverine Packing Co. products were produced between March 31 and April 18. They were shipped to distributors in Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri and Ohio.

The Food Safety and Inspection Service says 11 illnesses have been identified.

The products bear the establishment number "EST. 2574B" and will have a production date code in the format "Packing Nos: MM DD 14" between "03 31 14" and "04 18 14."

E. coli can cause severe cramps, nausea and diarrhea, as well as other complications.

What do you call someone who is given the answer to prevent a disease such as E.Coli but refuse to take the actions to do so? I watch women walk out of the restroom every time I am in one without washing their hands. Women, not washing your hands after wiping your bottom will cause illness. Are all of you so stupid that you don't know this? Think about this the next time you eat a hamburger, steak, or any other food out, oh, you don't wash your hands either, so I guess you are playing Russian Roulette with your health.

Men, same goes.

Not just Detroit. Even down here in the South. I am always embarrassed seeing these stupid people walk out of a public restroom without washing their hands. Guess no area of the country is exempt from stupid.

These recalls (beef, chicken, CARS) are getting out of control. It is obvious that it is money over safety and quality. And the fact that we have to pay an arm and a leg makes it even worse. This country is going to hell. I can only hope that someone, anyone, steps up to be the candidate that says what they mean and not just what we want to hear. But, sadly I have my doubts.

Well not saying it's his "fault" but Obama put Micheal Taylor in charge of food safety for the FDA...He was a former exc. for Monsanto and their top lobbiest..Maybe Mr. Taylor's is putting interests of Monsanto ahead fo America's food safety....Obama the corporatist is a big fan of Monsanto and their GMO seeds he even signed legislation protecting Monsanto from law suits down the road id it's found that GMO'S are harmfu to your health....yum agent orange compounds in my corn........Obama the corporatist in Socialist's clothing......and his bimbo FLOTUS telling children to make Subway fast food part of a healthy diet......Shoot me I voted for him first time around ..some change...

Oh please, it dont matter who we elect in any position anymore, none of them give a rats donkey about anyone but themselves. All we can do is throw out the incumbents in every election till they get a clue who's boss. We put them in office for many terms so they can make billions off the stock market using insider trading, mean while they ignore their jobs we elect them for. Wake up america and vote these donkeys out every election so they can't get richer.

Glad I left that $hit hole of a city in 1966. Just another proven fact that that city is not worth a damn anymore. I still have relatives that would like to leave, but their homes are worthless now and can't afford to move. Pontiac, Flint, and Dearborn are other places that are worthless as well.

We sold everything off in 91 and moved to a farm in southern Ohio. Things are great down here - terrible what's happened to Detroit, but no shocker to anyone that had lived there since the 50's.

I gave up meat 10 years ago when my husband had a massive heart attack and we had to give up our farm. Even now, I don't like to eat anything unless I personally know exactly who and where it came from. Even my dog gets home cooked, organic only food. He is 12 years old, in great shape and the vet didn't believe his age until I showed him the papers to prove it. When it comes to food (and just medicine/supplements) you can never be too careful!
