Valentine's Day is right around the corner, so why not do something special and wallet-friendly? This year, going on a vacation can actually be cheaper than dining out.

On average, couples spend about $264 on flowers, dining and gifts on Valentine's Day. That's not cheap, considering you can easily escape on a romantic mini-vacation for the same price or less.

So where can you find these deals? Simply go to Expedia.com and click on the "Groupon Getaways" tab. Just plug in your budget and preferred travel distance, and the site will return deals typically around 50 percent off hotel packages.

A quick search will pull up several two-night stay deals, some of which even include perks like massages and dining credits for less than $200. That's a much better value that eating at a fancy restaurant or buying overpriced flowers.

So, this Valentine's Day, ditch the roses and restaurants and pack your bags for a romantic getaway. You'll save money and be left with memories that last.
