Nokia  has now officially jumped into the tablet game with the Lumia 2520, which launched last Friday, just as Microsoft  hopes to close its acquisition of Nokia's device business early next year. With the Lumia 2520, Nokia becomes the second current vendor selling Windows RT devices, after all other manufacturers abandoned the confusing platform.

There are some differences between the two devices, such as LTE cellular connectivity, but ultimately the tablets are extremely similar in the most important ways. If Microsoft is able to close the deal, it will be offering two similar devices lacking much differentiation. If the Surface 2 fares better, don't be surprised if Microsoft kills the Lumia 2520. That might not be true if the roles are reversed, though.

In this segment of Tech Teardown, Erin Kennedy discusses Nokia's tablet with Evan Niu, CFA, our tech and telecom bureau chief.
