Gap's Same Store Disaster

Shares of Gap dropped 6% today after the company announced that its same-store sales declined 3% in September; that's compared to a 6% increase last year. Motley Fool Million Dollar Portfolio Analyst Charly Travers thinks that the big share price decline was more due to the market's surprise at these weak results, and less about investors thinking that something is fundamentally wrong with the retailer. In fact, Charly still believes that the company can hit its full year goals, as does Gap's management. That's why he thinks that Gap investors should stay put and ride out the storm.
The retail space is in the midst of the biggest paradigm shift since mail order took off at the turn of last century.
