The LNG export race may be ramping up, but Royal Dutch Shell is looking to turn the traditional LNG model on its head. Its Prelude LNG project drilled its first wells this week and expects to be producing in two years. For people watching this project, it's the LNG facility that is turning heads. Shell is looking to employ the world's first floating LNG terminal at this offshore play in Western Australia.
With so much of the world's oil and gas being found in places where infrastructure is severely lacking, the introduction of a floating LNG facility could be a huge win for prospective fields, and Shell as well.
