Missouri American Water Race to the Dome Launches Saturday
117 canoes and kayaks race for charity - crossing the finish line at Jefferson City's River Rendezvous Music Festival
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- On Saturday, September 14, the Missouri American Water Race to the Dome will launch its fourth annual charity race on the Missouri River with two racecourses and 117 boats. A record number of paddlers from across the Midwest will compete in the canoe/kayak race. Proceeds from the race go to Missouri River Relief to support their efforts to reconnect people to the Missouri River through hands-on river clean-ups and education.
The races begin at 9:00 a.m. and extend from Providence to Jefferson City (26.6 miles) and Hartsburg to Jefferson City (15.8 miles) The first boats will likely cross the finish line at Noren Access, Serenity Point at about 10:30 a.m. The race ends with the Missouri River Rendezvous Music festival and lunch on the "beach" at 11:30 a.m. Proceeds from the lunch will benefit Special Olympics.

Missouri American Water sponsors the race because the Missouri River is the source of drinking water for most of our customers across the state, including all of our customers in Jefferson City. The race highlights the importance of the Missouri River as a vital state resource and benefits the work of Missouri River Relief.
