At the beginning of the year, gas prices were surging at an usually high clip.

But the summer has now come and gone and in hindsight, gas prices were quite tame.

"As the Labor Day weekend approaches, the U.S. national average retail price for regular gasoline has fallen 13 cents per gallon below the apparent summer peak of $3.68 per gallon, reached on July 22," noted the Energy Information Association. "Last Monday, August 26, it was $3.55 per gallon, despite an increase in crude oil prices since early July. At $3.55 per gallon, the average U.S. retail price for regular gasoline is 19 cents below last year's price at that time and 3 cents below the level in 2011 leading into the holiday weekend."

"According to the American Automobile Association, gasoline prices were $3.59 per gallon August 29."

You mean to report that prices are lowest in the Obama fiasco years. Bush prices were under$2.00.

Time to start reporting and get off your knees HP!!!

Gas prices are the lowest in years? Is that "new" math, or liberal "facts"?

Here is FACT that will kill Obama lovers. Gas WAS $1.65 when the clown won. And, it has NEVER come back close to that!!! Unlike dums, I provide proof so, here ya go. Google: Gas Price, Dec 2008, CNN and see it WAS $1.65!!!!

You are dumb. Gas was over $4.25/gallon before the market crash just a few months prior.

I doubt you understand why it went down and why it went back up. It has nothing to do with any Obama policies.

I hate to tell you, but gas prices have nothing to do with who is in office. If you remember in the summer of 2008, gas prices were over $4 a gallon. they dropped for about 6 months when a barrel of oil on the open market was down to $35 a barrrel. Anyone with half a brain knew that was not going to last. By the way, The President took office in January 2009 and gas was still low. I always get a good laugh from people like you who seem to be living in the past and have zero knowledge when it comes to economics.

Just before last years elections gas in North Central Texas was under $2.99 per gallon. Within 3 months after the elections the gas prices went back up to $3.50 per gallon. Now they hover around $3.45 per gallon. I hope the "electorate can see thru this smokescreen next election !!!

You mean the "smokescreen" of global prices? Oil prices are based on global supply and demand. America produces a lot more oil than they did 4 years ago but its nothing on the global scale hence our prices have not gone down.

Where are these figures coming from?. Gas in my town is $3.95 per gallon. I realize that this is Conn and the taxes are the highest in the nation but $3.95 is still higher than every year since 2008.

Pretty comical...
Gas was $1.84 a gallon when Obama took office...
I guess it WASN'T Bush, Cheyney and all those nasty oil men that were keeping gas prices high.
And not a syllable from the Messiah about doing anything about this rape of the American public.

Yes, your post IS comical.

"Adjusting for inflation, prices rose to $2.52 (Bush) and $2.53 (Obama) seven months into their terms, $2.76 and $2.71, respectively, nearly two years in and $3.27 each three years in. This month, gas is $3.85, more than a dime cheaper than at this point during Bush's second term when adjusted for inflation.

The average, through 45 months in office? Obama: $3.04; Bush's second term: $2.98.

"The global price of oil pays no attention to whether the White House occupant is Democrat or Republican," said Paul Bledsoe, a former White House energy aide to Bill Clinton. It's just that "when you're living paycheck to paycheck and gasoline is more expensive, you want to blame somebody."

Just before Bush left office at the end of 2008, gas prices were cut in half within a couple of months as the economy crashed."

What is comical is that you refuse to acknowledge the massive stock market crash and global economic downturn was the cause of those low prices. Months before that, gas prices all around America were $4.25+/gallon

Keep trying to make up history. It won't work and will only make you look incredibly ignorant.
