The Principal Mobile App First to Offer Comprehensive Benefit Info On The Go

Now employees can track their benefits from anywhere on their mobile devices

DES MOINES, Iowa--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Making benefit information more accessible, the Principal Financial Group® is the first major employee benefits company to offer members the ability to submit vision claims instantly and check group disability and group term life insurance policies on a mobile device through the Principal® Mobile application.

"The enhanced mobile application shows our commitment to simplifying customers' interactions with us through innovation," said Amy Friedrich, vice president at The Principal®. "The ability to submit vision claims by snapping a photo of a receipt does just that."

Principal Mobile offers a wide range of insurance information for members. The update to the application offers a summary of benefits, claim history, ID card image and summary of discounts for vision insurance participants. The application now also offers a summary of benefits, claim history and access to information on employee assistance programs for both short-term and long-term disability insurance participants, as well as a summary of benefits and information on travel assistance for group term life and voluntary term life participants. In November 2012, dental insurance was added to the mobile application giving on the go access to insurance card information.

"New updates to the mobile application expand the options for customers; making it even more convenient to access comprehensive employee benefit information at their fingertips," said Friedrich.

Principal Mobile was originally launched in July 2011 to allow retirement plan participants to track savings progress, check 401(k) balances and view personalized rate of return. It also provides access to multiple retirement plan types including defined contribution, defined benefit, ESOP and nonqualified. The app is free, secure and easy to use.

Principal Mobile can be downloaded from the App Store (for Apple products) or Google Play today 1

Participants who have already downloaded the app will receive an automatic notification to update to the newest version.
