IXYS Announces New High-Voltage High-Efficiency LED Driver
IX9908 Provides Primary Control with Power Factor Correction (PFC) and Dimming Features
BEVERLY, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- IXYS Integrated Circuits Division (ICD), Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of IXYS Corporation (NAS: IXYS) , announced the immediate availability of theIX9908 High-Voltage, Dimmable LED Driver with PFC Control. The IX9908 is a quasi-resonant controller that is optimized for dimmable off-line LED lighting applications. The IX9908 incorporates a precise pulse-width modulation (PWM) circuit and cycle-by-cycle peak current control to support flicker-free, phase-cut dimming with a high power factor correction (greater than 98%). Utilizing IXYS ICD's high-voltage IC expertise, the IX9908 is rated to 600V, making it suitable for both 120V and 240V offline applications.
"The IX9908 is a significant extension to the lineup of our LED driver products. We now offer a wide range of products for the energy efficient LED lighting industry. Coupled with our wireless MCU-based lighting control applications with the ZILOG designs and the IXYS power semiconductors, we again offer our customers the whole solution. Our HVIC designs using our proven rugged technology outperforms the competition especially when it comes to higher temperature operation and immunity to latch-up," commented Dr. Nathan Zommer, CEO of IXYS Corporation.
Greater than 90% efficiency can be realized with the IX9908. An integrated high-voltage start up circuit with a digital soft-start provides quick turn on of LED lights. The IX9908 is available in an 8-lead SOIC package which allows for a compact LED driver PCB design.
The IX9908 features extensive protection circuitry against over-voltage, shorted winding, excessive die temperature, and logic supply under-voltage.
The IX9908 is suitable for a wide range of LED lighting applications, including incandescent bulb replacements, decorative lighting, LED tubes, and downlights, and is a cost effective solution for dimmable LED bulbs.
