New Jersey American Water Celebrates Flag Day with its Fleet
Company Also Offers Tweet, Get a Flag
VOORHEES, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The nearly 500 vehicles of New Jersey American Water's statewide fleet sport the company's red, white and blue colors every day. But beginning Friday, they will all be "flying" U.S. flags to celebrate Flag Day.
The 5 inch by 9 inch flags are magnetized to stay on the company vehicles, despite the many miles and often rough environment they frequently operate in. The addition of the flags to the fleet commemorates the day in 1777, when the Continental Congress replaced the British flag with a new design featuring 13 white stars in a circle on a field of blue and 13 red and white stripes - one for each state.
To encourage more flags being flown, especially during the period between Flag Day and the Fourth of July, New Jersey American Water is launching an offer to its Twitter followers and will send a similar flag magnet to anyone who tweets a photo of a U.S. flag, includes @NJAMWater in the tweet, and uses the hashtag #FlagDay. The gift is limited to one per household and is available until July 4 or while limited supplies last.
