Verizon Keeps Dividend Steady

Telecom giant Verizon  announced today its second-quarter dividend of $0.515 per share, the same rate it's paid for the past three quarters after it increased the payout 3% from $0.50 per share.

The board of directors said the quarterly dividend is payable on Aug. 1 to the holders of record at the close of business on July 10. The telecom has made quarterly cash payouts since 1984. It paid $5.2 billion in cash dividends in 2012.

The regular dividend payment equates to a $2.06-per-share annual dividend, yielding 4.2% based on the closing price of Verizon's stock on June 5.
