TOKYO -- Toyota said Wednesday it is recalling about 242,000 of its Prius and Lexus hybrid vehicles due to problems with their braking systems.

The recall applies to about 233,000 Prius vehicles made between March and October 2009 and about 9,000 Lexus HS250h models made between June and October 2009.

The Prius vehicles affected are sold worldwide. The Lexus sedans are sold in the U.S. and Japan.

Of the total, 91,000 were sold in North America. Another 30,000 were sold in Europe.

The automaker said brake pressure parts in the vehicles are made of a weak material that could crack due to vibration, slowing response times.

It said there were no accidents or injuries caused by the problem so far, but the company has received dozens of complaints.

Toyota Motor Corp. (TM) suffered a blow to its reputation from a series of massive recalls in 2009 and 2010, including faulty braking, sticky gas pedals and defective floor mats.

What a shame. Toyota need to manufacture in China like good greedy American companies and problems and regulations disappear! America is arsenal of communism for Bejing. Next we get nice strategic weapons contract for America, we already have plans. We build nice bombs for America to use in worthless wars. Only 60% detonate rate but we save you $$$!!! You fight wars while we take your jobs. Bejing make nice olympic uniforms for America too.

This story simply cannot be true about something being wrong with a car built by Toyota. What about the Toyota Production System it does not allow for defects to be used in the manufacturing process. It is simply not possible, they have told the world that on many occasions. If a supplier defect is found they poka yoke it, and poof the problem is gone forever. What next you will be telling us the BO administration is the most corrupt in our nation's history!
