Healthstream Beats on Both Top and Bottom Lines

Healthstream (NAS: HSTM) reported earnings on April 22. Here are the numbers you need to know.

For the quarter ended March 31 (Q1), Healthstream beat expectations on revenues and beat expectations on earnings per share.

EPS came in at $0.08. The four earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ predicted $0.07 per share. Non-GAAP EPS of $0.08 for Q1 were 60% higher than the prior-year quarter's $0.05 per share. GAAP EPS of $0.07 for Q1 were 40% higher than the prior-year quarter's $0.05 per share.

For the quarter, gross margin was 57.8%, 180 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 10.7%, 80 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 6.5%, 50 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. (Margins calculated in GAAP terms.)
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $31.4 million. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.09.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $126.4 million. The average EPS estimate is $0.34.
