In a blog post today, Microsoft announced that it will end support for Office for Mac 2008 on April 9, 2013.

The company said that customers can purchase an Office 365 subscription, which includes Office for Mac 2011, and that the subscription will include any future updates for the Office for Mac 2011version, as well. But Microsoft stated in the post that it encourages customers to "try Office 365 for the best experience."

Microsoft said that updates for Office for Mac 2008 will be available for download until April 19, 2014.
