Northwest Natural Gas (NYS: NWN) reported earnings on March 1. Here are the numbers you need to know.

For the quarter ended Dec. 31 (Q4), Northwest Natural Gas missed estimates on revenues and missed estimates on earnings per share.
Compared to the prior-year quarter, revenue shrank. GAAP earnings per share shrank.

EPS came in at $1.05. The six earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ averaged $1.10 per share. GAAP EPS of $1.05 for Q4 were 3.7% lower than the prior-year quarter's $1.09 per share.

For the quarter, gross margin was 35.7%, 210 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 24.6%, 250 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 12.4%, 160 basis points better than the prior-year quarter.
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $136.4 million. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $1.52.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $385.0 million. The average EPS estimate is $2.52.
