Con-way (NYS: CNW) reported earnings on Feb. 6. Here are the numbers you need to know.

For the quarter ended Dec. 31 (Q4), Con-way met expectations on revenues and missed estimates on earnings per share.
Compared to the prior-year quarter, revenue expanded and GAAP earnings per share shrank significantly.

EPS came in at $0.26. The 21 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ averaged $0.29 per share. GAAP EPS of $0.21 for Q4 were 49% lower than the prior-year quarter's $0.41 per share.

For the quarter, gross margin was 2.7%, 820 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 2.8%, 30 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 0.9%, 80 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter.
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $1.39 billion. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.41.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $5.82 billion. The average EPS estimate is $2.29.
The stock has a three-star rating (out of five) at Motley Fool CAPS, with 93 members out of 116 rating the stock outperform, and 23 members rating it underperform.
