Dick's Sporting Goods Suspends Rifle Sales

The fallout from the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., last week continued Tuesday, as Dick's Sporting Goods announced it will suspend gun sales to consumers effective immediately.
In a statement on the retailer's website, Dick's said that "out of respect for the victims and their families, during this time of national mourning we have removed all guns from sale and from display in our store nearest to Newtown and suspended the sale of modern sporting rifles in all of our stores chainwide."
Shares of the sporting goods retailer are up 1.8% as of this writing.
