Survey: Samsung and Apple Have Largest Gains in Brand Preference

The Samsung and Apple brands have shown the strongest growth in worldwide consumer technology brand confidence over the past six months, according to a survey conducted by Strategy Analytics' Consumer Metrix service.
Since the last survey in June, Samsung has improved on its first place ranking by 4.4 percentage points to stay ahead of second place Sony by 17 points. Apple's 2.3-point increase jumped it past Hewlett-Packard into third place.
The only other gainers were Panasonic and Asus with slight improvements. The remainder of the 17 major brands all took hits, with Research In Motion's BlackBerry falling almost 10 points. Nokia and Google's Motorola lost nearly four points.
From top to bottom, the rankings of the top 17 consumer technology brands: Samsung, Sony, Apple, HP, LG, Panasonic, Dell , Nokia, Philips , Toshiba, Acer, Sharp, Asus, Motorola, Sanyo, BlackBerry, and Lenovo.
Where Apple leads in brand preference is among the highest-income consumers. The Apple brand does not, however, do as well in France and Germany.
