The following video is part of our "Motley Fool Conversations" series, in which analyst John Reeves and advisor David Meier discuss topics across the investing world.
Investors should have a watch list, a list of companies that they want to own. John and David have one for their real-money portfolio, and here are three of the most promising companies on it. The first is Westport Innovations. Natural gas is an abundant, cheap fuel right now. And Westport, along with Fuel Systems Solutions, designs systems to help vehicles burn the fuel. The second is Nuance Communications. The voice-recognition technology company is well-positioned to be a part of the mobile computing trend. Athenahealth is the final one. It is helping to digitize the healthcare industry, along with companies likes Allscripts Healthcare Solutions. A watch list is a very valuable tool for investors. It's a way to continue to keep tabs on companies that investors want to own. The key is to continuously learn about the businesses and wait for the right price.
