The best places to retire are those with the least "diversity". The less "diversity", the less dirty animals on welfare. The less dirty animals on welfare, the less crime.

Who writes articles like these? I actually live in Albuquerque. Retired here six years ago. I am moving away as soon as I can. Unless you fish and/or ski, there is nothing to do here. Medical care here is very poor. DUI is worse. Food is very expensive; yes, food is expensive everywhere now, but it's really expensive here. We're due to run out of water in 10-15 years. Every summer is hotter and longer. The only good thing about ABQ is that all of NM is drop-dead gorgeous and there is little humidity. However, that only goes so far.

Bend Oregon, its a little cold in the winter but has blue skies, beautiful mountains and nice people. It's a cute little town.

Everyone has their own criteria fo evaluating their "best" spot. Many people are swayed by the regions weather which I have always tried to minimize as a critical factor in our choice of locations. As we get older, health care resources may play more of a role in our decisions. Wherever you choose, go somewhere you can get involved in the community and jump in with both feet. Live life to the fullest now! Best of luck wherever you choose.
