Bed bugs are not only disgusting, they're an expensive problem to have. So, how can you get rid of these pests without burning through your budget?

First, make sure what you're seeing are, in fact, bed bugs. Beyond living in your bed frames, mattresses or headboards, these parasitic insects often lurk in dark areas. Check interior door frames, in between the folds of your curtains, behind loose wallpaper, and under chipping paint.

Have you seen one? Chances are there are many more. According to our experts, every one bed bug you see represents 12 that you don't, so once you identify an infestation you shouldn't waste any time before you exterminate.

Those on a budget may go for a dry steamer or natural oil option, but they simply aren't effective in getting rid of these resilient bugs. And at $150, you're essentially pouring money down the drain.

When it come to bed bugs, it pays to get professional help. Yes, pros can charge anywhere from $250 per room to exterminate, but this option is your best bet. It's pricey, but it's also effective.

What worked for a co-worker. He found bed bugs in his mattress shortly after a vacation to the beach. He sealed off his bedroom with plastic sheeting. He put a kerosene heater in the middle of the room at full blast. He only went back in one time to refill the heater. He left it cook for 48 hours. That was two years ago He hasn't seen another bed bug since. Worth a try.

Vacumming is good of course but beward kids are bringing them from school now. Doctors offices are calling that patients are bringing them in etc etc. Movie theatres are terrible for them.

The item on Shark tank was just to find them. A gimmick. If you really want to know if you have them call a reliablie bed bug K9 service. For abou $200 they will do a sweep of your home. The dog is trained just like a drug dog to only sniff out bed bugs they are great.

Also heat treating is very expensive. Using a company or exterminator that uses Phantom will kill the bugs and put dust in the cracks and crevices ( a dust that kills the bbugs.) They hide in switch plates as well.
I know Orkin does this and they offer a 10 day follow up treatment and 30 day warranty in their treatment.

Try dry ice in a bucket. Bed bugs are attracted to the ice and they'll flock to the dry ice and die. Save the money you'd spend on this stuff.

ooh for crrysake
yeah you WILL WORK starting with the bedrooms--vacuum vacuum vacuum
seal off the moldings/floor area and DOORS with cheap masking tape, seal up the mattress-
wash everything and clean out all the accumulated cwap
vacuum--damp mop and keep doing it AND THEIR NUMBERS HAVE TO DECREASE and then they're gone-
these things are no worse than fleas and with the fleas ALL THE SAME FEAR HYSTERIA AND HYPE.
and getting into the habit of CLEANING is never a bad idea either and thE ONLY ACCEPTABLE EXCUSE for NOT being able to plug in a freeeeekin vacuum and run it for 5-10 minutes a day after the initial scut work would be those with handicapping conditions and even here family and friends SHOULD BE HELPING ANYWAY.

Problem is that they aren't just in the mattress - they also hide other places, for example in cracks in your bedframe. Steamer won't get them there.
