Pure BS....I changed every bulb in my home and only notice a small savings. That "savings" was offset by the high cost of the CFL's. Most of the CFL's I've bought last just a little over two years whereas the "regular" bulbs usually last me five years. I am changing back to the incandescent bulbs.

It's not only the mercury in the CFLs but the heavy metals in batteries. These go into landfills and thrown along the 'way' and end up in our water supply. I personally don't care for the CFLs but the mercury is a sure reason to avoid them. Politically correct drones ignore reality although they know the toxic truth.

You are full of CRAP Dave. The mercury in normal fluorescent bulbs is in the form of gas. If you break one, you open windows & doors and leave for 30 min. so the gas will dissipate. The CFL Bulbs have a powdered mercury that just sits there. What is worse is it can stick to walls, flooring, and furniture. CFL lights are "DEATH IN A BOX". You are an idiot.

Well I have CFL lights and LED bulbs and saw a reduction in my bill. Over all it was only about 5% but you figure in my lighting is just a small part of my bill I think that is great. I have had LED bulbs for 5 years and some CFL for nearly as long. Please watch the video and listen. They said you can see a reduction in your LIGHTING bill not power. big difference.

Also if you think Mercury is a worry, well we have had fluorescent for nearly 100 years now and the world has not ended. Tesla made them ages ago same worries have been around for ages and there is so little mercury in them it is a joke, and if you believe that a woman had hazmat come to her house I have ocean front property in Nebraska to sell you.

Also if you have CFL bulbs that last only 6 months maybe you have bad wiring in your home and should have that checked out. I know I had my house updated and was able to use dimmable CFL's in my dinning room.

This is the craziest claim ever..first, these bulbs are loaded with mercury.you're not suppose to touch them..and they have to be disposed in a special way..yeah right..99% will discard it just like they did regular bulbs.then you have a lot of waste in our landfills..remember the story when squiggly nightmare bulbs were introduced? A lady had dropped one and she called worrying about what was released in her home..she was visited by people wearing protective wear..these things are hazardous...and they dont' last years..maybe 6 months .my sister has had to replace several after a few days..they are make reading difficult...they are soo annoying..another sign America losing freedoms..because these bulbs make zero sense. of course they won't keep both to give us a choice..Inept people that lost their minds when they got an education.
