The Top 10 Consumer Complaints

auto dealerships

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Apartments crawling with bedbugs. Pricey phone services the customer -- senior citizens -- didn't order. A tombstone never delivered.

And, of course, auto dealers.

The Consumer Federation of America on Tuesday released its annual chronicle of the top 10 consumer complaints.

The CFA list comes from a survey of 38 consumer agencies about the kinds of complaints they received in 2011.

The consumer groups received nearly 290,000 complaints, and recovered or saved consumers almost $147 million.

Corporate America runs this country. The little guy is just fodder for their growth. Time Warner cable dumps CRN Digital Talk Radio from their service and when asked why says you can get it for free on the internet. Excuse me I have to pay for the internet, is Time Warner going to pay for my internet?? Since they reduced programming are they going to reduce the cable bill?? Why take off CRN and keep on the programs that are under their corporate umbrella ?? Maybe this is just another attack on Freedom of Speech ?????

Auto sales are the worst. My brother caught up in a scam where he bought a car that apparently was repossessed more than once or something. Somehow the money owed was attached to his purchase and they harassed him for months and ruined his credit for a used car that was supposed to cost $14,000 and they claimed cost $65,000. It was a fiasco that probably should have been turned over to the state attorney general, but he is young and just returned the car and declared bankruptcy.

I don't know about anyone else but my biggest consumer complaint is being forced to watch commercials and having my intelligence insulted by being forced to watch a trailer instead of reading the information.

I've been with this ISP since it was Compserve but since it merged with huffpost it seems to be catering to the lowest common demnominator of non readers.

I'm with you, Joper. Doesn't anyone read any more? Not only are we forced to watch a video instead of reading a story but we are subjected to commercials planted in the video clip.
When Huffpost does present a written article, it's usually very poorly written as well.

Most all new cars come with at least a 50,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. Still, all dealers try and push their warranty (usually $100+ per month) on you on top of the existing warranty. Isn't that fraud?
