Savings Experiment: Deodorant

What deodorant application do you prefer?

Did you find our video on deodorant helpful?

Deodorants comes in many varieties, but you can save money by knowing which ones to purchase. Here, our experts break down which products will help you stay dry and save money.

Antiperspirant/deodorant combos keep sweat away and prevent odor, so they are often your best bet. The regular strength varieties usually last 12 hours, and will run you about $4 to $8 at the average drugstore.

Then there are extra strength or clinical strength varieties. These last 24 to 48 hours, but can cost up to $7 to $8. So, which offers the right protection for you?

Well, when it comes down to it, the extra strength deodorants are just not worth buying. Some doctors say these clinical strength products are really only effective for those with hyperhidrosis, a medical condition in which a person sweats excessively. However, only 2 to 3 percent of the world's population is affected by it, so chances are regular strength protection will do the trick for you.

Deodorant When it comes to what form of deodorant you should by, go with a stick. Sprays and roll-ons don't last as long and aren't as effective. Keep these tips in mind the next time you need to buy deodorant and you'll be able to save money without breaking a sweat.

I disagree that solids are a better value than sprays. My degree spray lasts twice as long as the stick. At least two sets of sticks for every spray can.

The most important thing to remember is to use an ANTI-Perspirent!! Deodorant alone won't do it!! I have been using AVON roll-on for over 25 yrs. and wouldn't use anything else! I was buying them for $.99 a piece from my rep......and bought enough to last for the rest of my life!!
There is nothing UGLIER than pit-stains on a guy!!

Tom's deodorant is not an anti-perspirant. You should NEVER use anti-perspirants as they contain aluminum which has been known to be the cause of alzheimers & other problems later in life. Don't use them!!!
Tom's is a stick deodorant & works great. It is called Tom's of Maine. Been in business since 1970. You can buy it at Whole Foods, Walgreens, & even Walmart.
