Savings Experiment: Pillows

How do you prefer your pillow?

Did you find our video on pillows helpful?

There are many varieties of pillows out there, and they all come with different price tags. Comfort is subjective, but there are ways to score good deals on new bedding. Here's how you can rest with the best pillows.

In addition to comfort, another thing to consider when buying new pillows is durability. Down is the softest option, but the feathery pillows don't last very long and often don't provide proper spinal support. Latex and memory foam varieties last much longer, but they will cost you more.

So, where can you get the best bargain on your pillow of choice? Target is great for cheap bedding, but the chain doesn't have many brands to choose from. T.J. MAXX is known for its good pillow prices, but with its ever-changing stock, you may not find as many deals.

Macy's is one of the best places to go. Not only does the retailer have many pillow options, but its stores also have "sleep centers" where you can try before you buy. But, before you plunk down your hard-earned cash, do a little comparison shopping first.

PillowsWrite down your favorite brands and check Overstock and Amazon to see if you can score additional savings. These sites offer a wide selection and often have plenty of user reviews so you know exactly what to expect over time. Using these tips, you'll be resting a good deal every night.

\"My Pillow\" (sold directly from the company but a SLIGHTLY cheaper \"one size fits most\" model is now available in Walmart in their \"As seen on TV\" department) is probably the most perfect pillow. It provides good support, stays cool, is machine washable & comes out brand new everytime, is hypoallergenic & antimicrobial & is guaranteed for 10 yrs!!! Oh yeah, & it is MADE IN AMERICA! I bought mine at a local county fair & have since bought some for family members as well. They are worth every penny!!!

Forgot to mention. If you get your goose down pillow even a little damp, you can just toss 'em out.

Pure goose down pillows are the most expensive I've seen, and quite comfortable, but I bought several of those buckwheat husk pillows years ago when they were selling them on TV, and I'm still sleeping comfortably on them. Eased my neck problems a great deal as well. Wouldn't trade 'em for anything.

JC Penney has a GREAT selection of different types of pillows, and their prices are ususally better than Target, plus they have lots of sales on their bedding! My secret spot for pillows!

Another worthless video. And I can't stand that insipid narrator, God she makes me want to puke. And if you shop for pillows at Macy*s be prepared to pay 4 times as much as anywhere else. Bedding at Macy*s is NOT cheap!

Your advice is helping people loose their jobs. The growing trend of using stores as showrooms and then buying online is forcing many companies out of business. The smaller retailers don't stand a chance and large operations will linger for a while. Be true to yourself and the well being of your community.

Memory foam pillows are not more expensive then pure goose down pillows. I love them but they are really hard to find. Most pass off other then Goose down as down pillows.

I have 100% latex pillows, and yes, they cost more, but that's because they last a lot longer and because latex foam is the best stuffing there is. We spend around one-third of our lives sleeping, so our bedding should be the best we can afford.
