Savings Experiment: Toothpaste

Are you confused as to what toothpaste is best for your teeth?

Did you find our video on toothpaste helpful?

There are many varieties and brands of toothpaste to choose from, but when it comes to keeping your teeth clean, you can save money by simply looking at labels.

From different textures and flavors to promises of whitening power and tartar control, you have a plethora of products at your fingertips. However, choosing the right toothpaste really boils down to two active ingredients.

First, you want your product to have fluoride for fighting tooth decay. Second, the product should have a form of anti-bacterial protection like zinc or triclosan to prevent plaque build-up.

Four out of five dentists say brand doesn't matter, so anything beyond those two ingredients is likely increasing the retail price of your toothpaste. As a quick rule of thumb, avoid special features or additives that sound fancy. There's no reason to pay more when many product contain same or similar active ingredients.

toothpasteSo, the next time you're out shopping for dental care products, check the label and choose the cheapest brand with the right active ingredients. In the end, the savings will make you smile.

there are nations in Europe - including Finland and Germany who stopped flouride in the water and the tooth decay level continued to go down so that indicates there are other factors more important than this chemical which is given to us unaware.
The main thing flouride does is give some water supplies a funny taste, I prefer the metallic taste of the artesian wells on the farm over the chemical after taste of town water when the flouride level gets too high.

Okay, Fluoride is not necessary in toothpaste and has NEVER been proven to prevent tooth decay. It's actually a deadly poison that we are forced to ingest in tap water in small amounts every day. It is bad for your bones in general and may contribute to several different chronic illnesses like diabetes. You DON'T want it or need it there. Buy a non-fluoride toothpaste.

The picture shows someone loading the toothbrush with gobs of toothpaste...all you need is a pea-sized amount. Also, do not rinse after brushing. The toothpaste will work even longer if you don't rinse it off. This is especially important if you use the toothpaste that is made for sensitive teeth, you really want it to stay on the teeth to absorb into the tooth structure. :D

it isn't like they are going to brush normally that way, this is how you load up for an advertisement for toothpaste to show off the stripes or colour in front of the artificial smile with implant teeth

Do you realize where the flouride comes from? The stacks of a fertilizer plant and goes into a bag that is marked with a skull and cross bones check it out>>>. Flouride is categorized as a hazardous waste by the brilliant people in Washington,,,who's on first?

when I was with the Air Force my standard telephone greeting was:

"Trust us we are your Government" and I got a lot of chuckles and a few outright laughs with that.

except once the Colonel was making the call and told me to come straight to her office.

Do your research independently. The entire fluoride myth was started years ago about 'a town' where the local dentist 'lost business due to the fluoride in the water'.
Check it out yourself.
Then for fun, research the history of how Aspartame passed approval by the FDA thanks to our old friend Rumsfeld.
Just because a chemical is universally promoted doesn't make it safe.

It wasn't a myth There was a town in a South Western state that had very low numbers of cavities
After running tests to find out why, they conclued that it was the very small amount of Fluride in the
drinking water that was keeping the numbers of cavitiesvery low by hardening the Enamal in the teeth.
Since Fluride was introduced in the drinking water of cities the numbers of cavities in those cities
went down.
