General Mills (NYS: GIS) reported earnings on June 27. Here are the numbers you need to know.

For the quarter ended May 27 (Q4), General Mills met expectations on revenues and beat slightly on earnings per share.
Compared to the prior-year quarter, revenue grew and GAAP earnings per share improved.
Gross margins dropped, operating margins improved, net margins shrank.
General Mills logged revenue of $4.07 billion. The 13 analysts polled by S&P Capital IQ anticipated revenue of $4.11 billion on the same basis. GAAP reported sales were 12% higher than the prior-year quarter's $3.63 billion.

EPS came in at $0.60. The 18 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ averaged $0.59 per share. GAAP EPS of $0.49 for Q4 were 2.1% higher than the prior-year quarter's $0.48 per share.

For the quarter, gross margin was 36.8%, 70 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 15.7%, 100 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 8.0%, 80 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter.
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $4.15 billion. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.68.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $17.48 billion. The average EPS estimate is $2.75.
